Red and Gold Los Angeles Wedding at The Ruby Street (FEATURE)

RED AND GOLD IS A palette not seen often in wedding design.  Because red is such a commanding color, most people tend to think it is overpowering and distracting.  Done right, however, red resonates with powerful and lasting effects.  For Diann and Jon's wedding day, red and gold were offset by natural tones with lush greenery and oak tables that kept the palette feeling elevated rather than dominating.  As an accent, we used turquoise from the venue's painted exterior.

I immediately knew I had a kindred spirit in Diann.  During our initial consultation she expressed that she was a font-fanatic and wanted to know if she could send a link of her favorites.  Could she!  Font selection and manipulation was a huge part of our design process.  To keep things modern and pop-y we focused on a clean format, even tracking, and drew inspiration from concert posters.  The venue, the ever-so-awesome Ruby Street in Los Angeles, was another important factor in our design.  Their signature is a gorgeous, original stained glass window that we incorporated throughout.

Another fun detail Diann and Jon commissioned was a custom watercolor portrait.  Their illustrations were used on the welcome signage, stickers, and custom lucite and gold foil cake topper.

The menu for the evening was a delicious family-style spread prepared by Hungry Bear Catering Co.  Table menus were pressed in gold foil and displayed between an etched "lucite sandwich" with gold foil illustrations.  Each table represented a place important to the bride and groom that they could keep and display after the wedding!

In coordination with the professional design eye of Renee of Moxie Bright Events, Of The Flowers provided beautiful installations kept the floral display high so that the family-style meal would have ample room to be served on the wood tables.
